1. ICT Methods

The Department of CSE facilitated with Wi-Fi enabled 12 ICT class rooms and 8 ICT laboratories for replacing chalkboards to become integral in teachinglearning interaction.
Utilization:
• The Faculty members of CSE are highly encouraged to use power point presentation, Video Lecturing and Animated Videosfor delivering lecture through ICT methodology.
• The Faculty members prepared PPT for course related topics which can be carried into classroom and demonstrate it in an effective manner to the students.
Outcomes:
• Department of CSE faculties and students utilized ICT methods in effective manner for their teaching and learning process.


2. Flipped Classrooms

The Department of CSE faculties areencouraging the students to learn about advanced topics given by the faculty and also motivating the student to present in front of the students.
Implementation
• The faculties give the notes for the next day lecture topic to the students to go through before coming to the college.
• During the class hour the student will act like faculty to explain the topics to other students in the class.
• The faculty interact with students to give deep understanding on allotted topics through some real world example.
Outcomes
• This innovative method improves the student peer to peer interaction and overcomes stage fear.


3. Brainstorming Sessions

The Department of CSE faculty practicing Brainstorming Sessions for students to create group creativity technique to find a conclusion for a specific problem to make them to understand the complicated problem oriented topics.

4. Project Based Learning

The Department of CSE faculties are practicing Project Based Learning in class and it gives the opportunity to develop students knowledge and skills through engaging projects by involving in depth study and investigation of real world problems.
Implementation
• The Department of CSE faculty assigning two mini projects to the students as per the course file based on the subject.
• The project titles were given to the students to make them understand their thinking capability.
• Faculties are encouraging and guiding the students to come with new ideas for project implemetations.

• The Department of CSE Students obtained knowledge to overcome real world problems.


5. Google Classrooms

The Department of CSE facultiesare practicingGoogle Classroomsto simplify creating, distributing, and grading assignments in a paperless way to the students.
Utilization
• Faculty can post course materials, assignments through Gmail accounts.
• The students can utilizes the course materials and answering for the assignment questions through online. Students also post the queries to the faculty through this Google class room interaction.
• Google Classroom can save faculty and students’ time and make the learning process more effective.
Outcomes
• Google Classroom saves faculty and students’ time and makes learning process more effective in a paperless way.


6. Concept Based Animated Videos

The Department of CSEfaculties arepracticinganimated videos to the students,based on the related subject topics to improve effective learning and understanding.
Implementation
• Faculties prepare the complicated topics along with the animated videos for students to make them to understand in easier way.
• After watching the animated videos, students interact with the faculty for any clarifications.
Outcomes
• It increases the level of interest in teaching and encourages more attention with better understanding.


7. Integration of NPTEL Video lectures in teaching - learning


The Department of CSE faculties areutilizing eminent professor’s NPTEL video lectures to the students for well understanding of the complex and advanced topics.

The Department of CSE faculties areencouraging the students to enroll in MOOCs to learn and utilize free online courses.
Utilization
• The Department of CSE Facultiesgive awareness to the students about the MOOC courses importance and also to assist formal education and online learning, especially in the technology.
• MOOCs is like a distance education in online to educate the students.
• The Students utilizing the resources through enrollment in online based on their interested topics.

11. Students Innovative Projects

The Department of CSE faculties are encouraging the students to carry out the innovative projects by using recent technologies.

• The department project coordinator allocates the faculties as project guides for the students to develop their mini and major project based on their interested domain.
• The faculties are encouraging the students to think innovatively and recent problems in the research areas.
• The faculties select best innovative project and encourage them to participate in Project Expos within the state and outside the state.

12. Faculty Initiative towards Students Research

The Department of CSE faculties encourage students to publish their own developed projects into research publication.

• Students are eagerly converting their project work in form of journal.
• Faculties of CSE motivating students to participate in national level / international level fest in the form of research journals submission.

• Students obtained Knowledge to participate in the competitions and the literature survey for their future enhancements.


13. Approach to deal with slow and advanced learners

The Department of CSE Faculty identifies the slow and advanced learners through internal examination.
• Slow learners are identified based on their performance in Midterm examinations those who secures less than 16 marks in the internal examination out of 25 marks are considered as slow earners in SMEC.
• Advanced learners identified based on their performance in Midterm examinations those who secures more than 16 marks in the internal examination out of 25 marksare considered as advancedlearners in SMEC.
The following approaches used to supportslowand advancedlearners, accordingly post identification actions taken and impact is observed.

Remedial classes for slow learners

After identifying the slowlearners, the list of slowlearners is sent to the Principal for approval to conduct the remedial classes beyond the college hours. (i.e. 3:50 PM to 4:50 PM). Learning material prepared by subject handling faculty members for slowlearners is verified by the subject expert committee and uploaded in the portal regularly for student’s reference.Frequently, the progress of the slowlearners are informed to their parents by the class in charges.The figure 5.5.13 shows the remedial class schedule for III year students.


After conducting remedial classes, the performance of the students are improved and they secured above 16 marks. The figure shows the improvement status of all the above weak students in MID-II examinations.


Special programs for Advanced Learners
• Advanced Learners are identified based on internal assessment. Students are encouraged to be members of professional bodies like ISTE, CSI under which technical events are organized.
• Hands on experience in advanced technologies such as NS3, IOT Raspberry Pi and Tensorflow are given to students.
• Aptitude and soft skills training to crack the interviews for placements.
• Advanced learners take up ownership of various committees like Anti-ragging, Women empowerment etc.
• Students are also provided opportunities to develop their creativity by participating and organizing intercollegiate as well as national level technical symposiums.
• SMEC practices project expo every year and students are encouraged to take part in innovative thoughts of the latest technology such as:
• Bright and diligent students are motivated and inspired to get university ranks.
• Students are encouraged to take up competitive exams like GATE, GRE, and TOEFL etc.

14. Online Teaching

The Department of CSE faculties are facilitated with ZOOM, Microsoft Team, and Google Meet for conducting their online class rooms for replacing physical presence and chalkboards that become an integral in teachinglearning interaction.
Utilization
• The Faculty members of CSE are highly encouraged to use power point presentation,Animated Videos, Assignments, Video Recording to play back andAttendance Monitoring for delivering lecture through online teaching methodology.
• The Faculty members prepared PPT for course related topics which can be carried into online classroom and demonstrate it in an effective manner to the students.

• Department of CSE faculties and students utilized Online Teaching tools and methods in effective manner for their teaching and learning process.
